Reel & Reflex

”Reel and Reflex are two corresponding compositions for piano and marimba that originated from my collaboration with percussionist Jasmin Kolberg.”

Reel is characterized by a common pulse, a basic understanding between two people. Like a thread unwinding from a reel, marimba and piano organically pass the motifs to each other.

In Reflex, on the other hand, the disharmony of a relationship becomes audible in all its dynamics and the pulse becomes driven. The players goad each other and take precise aim at the other’s vulnerabilities.
